Use the least amount of energy

Whenever we are in a state of chaos, we always want to be able to find something that we can guide ourselves with. We usually tend to find this guidance through our sense of purpose, past experiences, or simply something or someone that we look up to. For each person, it is different, and I cannot say how someone deals with things, but I can say how I deal with it, and what has helped me.

So, as much as I want to say that I have been in a state of peace, I can’t, I would simply be lying to myself and to you as well. The feeling of displacement is still present, and maybe it isn’t even displacement, but just a feeling of being lost or having lost that sense of self. But losing that sense of self even when we try and find it once again with the steps we have taken before can be difficult. We may guide ourselves and follow certain actions we have done in the past that have allowed us to get back to being in the present and in tune with who we are. But one thing that I have realized is how I have been trying to be guided with things that I have done in the past that have helped me be in tune with my sense of self, but it has not helped. Why? Well, because, the state of consciousness and knowledge in which I was a few years ago is not the same as it is now, and the knowledge and experience I have now is more than what it was before. So, no, I cannot be guided by my past entirely. Yet, knowing what I know, I can use it as tools to help me get back to myself and connect with who I truly am. And accepting that I am not true to myself was the hardest thing, because it is acknowledging that I am lying to myself, even if that was not my intention. However, the tools that have helped me to get back - bit by bit - have been meditating, journaling and simply moving. All three actions are independent of any situation, and your reaction to the emotions you are feeling in that moment are dependent on the action you take to deal with them.

So, even in the feeling of displacement and being lost, if I am truly choosing to be true and honest to myself, then I am also choosing to commit to doing what helps me be my best self. When we choose to commit to what works for us, it is the moment we are also choosing to be in tune with the best version of who you are. Being that version should require the least amount of energy possible, but to get to that point, it may require some energy to commit to actions we have stopped being used to.

I invite you to become the best version of yourself by getting closer to the version that requires the least amount of energy to make you feel better or even at peace with yourself.
