The unconscious mask we still have on

Have you ever gone to a place where you feel that you don’t belong and you just have to put on a mask to act accordingly? Well, I sometimes do, and I have to admit to it because it is true.

This week I had ups and downs, my rollercoaster week. Not only was it my rollercoaster week, but it was also the week that I had a mask on, during class, seeing people, and even for myself. I had a mask on because I was too afraid to face what was going and be my authentic self. I realized that we either consciously or subconsciously put on this mask when we don’t want to see things as they are. The difference between the conscious and subconscious mask is how much you lie to yourself and how true you are to yourself. Let me explain. When we go out, we do put on this mask because we are accustomed to adapting to the place we have to go to, that is basic human nature, and that is what every being does. This is a conscious mask; we can see who we are and how we act with the people we are with. On the other hand, we have the subconscious mask, which is a bit more complicated to identify. It’s the mask that we put on and can’t recognize that easily. It’s the mask that we have been accustomed to and used to that we’ve accepted that that is the way that we are when it isn’t. The subconscious mask is the mask we use to lie to ourselves because we don’t want to face the problems in front of us. Why? Because we use it to escape our reality and act as if everything is okay.

So, have you ever questioned what type of mask you have on?
