The system has to change

School has become the place where we socialize, not the place where we learn. School has become a prison for our thoughts. We don’t learn anymore because the school, the professors, and the principles’ only goal are for students to leave the facility. It’s a repetitive cycle for the classes and generations to come. We only memorize things now because school does not teach us how to learn. It does not teach us how to cope nor organize ourselves when we have homework. We already have seven or eight hours to spend studying; why do we need homework?

And the only difference between a public and private high school, an Ivy league and a community college are their reputations. Still, have you ever considered that they are the same?

To add, we are only being tested by our academic intelligence. But educational institutions have yet to consider other abilities. We are tested based on our IQ, our grade on an ACT or SAT. And if you look at the educational system as a whole in comparison to your surroundings, it is one of the only things that have not changed yet. You look back to 100 years ago, and students are still sitting at their desks, taking exams, listening to teachers, and other everyday activities. Nonetheless, this generation and the generations to come have a different perspective and mindset than what it was in the past.

It is time for the system to change as society has.
