That "New Year, New Me" BS

Why do we react to that saying? Why do we have to wait a whole year to begin or write down new year resolutions or goals? Why can’t we start on a Monday, on the first day of a month, or even the first hour of the day? We write down our resolutions, but why do we fail after a streak of accomplishing that goal? Well, I have an answer for you. Several sources have proven that approximately 92% of the population fails in their new year’s resolutions, and the other 8%, well, they’re successful. So why aren’t you in that minor percentage of the population? We set our goals to be accomplished throughout the year in the long-run. However, what will inevitably allow you to achieve those goals is to write them in a short-term, specific way.

I will give you an example of my own. I have been connecting more with my spiritual side, and I had decided, since my birthday, which was in August, after a significant blackout to start working on personal development and growth. So, what I did was give meditation, yoga, and journaling for the past 156 days almost every day a chance. I used to hate all of that. I hated it, like literally. And, since I haven’t mentioned it yet, I was a competitive swimmer before the pandemic hit, and then my club had closed, and well, the team kinda disappeared and vanished. And since it is an active sport, I was really out of balance and concentration, not that much in flexibility. But back to the main topic… when something hits, and you have to adapt, we unintentionally have to accommodate our surroundings to be at peace. We then have new goals that we write down, at least some. So why the f*ck do we have to write down our new year’s resolutions when you can literally do it when it feels appropriate to you and not to what society has established as a new chapter that we have to follow along with because others do. So once again, we are followers, and we don’t fit-out.

Most interesting writings once again....Being the age I am, I have had decades of New Year’s Resolutions....ah yes most of them I could not sustain...and not due to external causes, just my own lack of discipline. We all fall into most comfortable paths....animals of habit...that we are.

This Pandemic has managed to turn our lives upside down..the impact felt worldwide at different levels. I have had much time to think, to look at old Albums, actually time to smell the roses, emerging with a huge amount of gratitude......Before the lock downs I ran around, non stop, took so much for granted. .....Quite aware now that our lives will not be the same, but new challenges will emerge, am quite looking…
