Out of Isolation

Why do we allow ourselves to be surrounded by fake people? Why let ourselves be attracted to illusions that make us feel like something we are not? Why do we let ourselves be manipulated into having to become someone to feel complete, whole or enough?

When these questions are asked, they may come off as pessimistic, but in reality, they are a way of introspection and self-awareness. This week, I faced these questions when places started to open up, and people began going out more.

I decided it was time to meet more people and stop being isolated and closed up. However, while doing such, I encountered some obstacles. First of all, I realized that I wasn’t facing many things even if I was isolated because I found ways to distract myself from the thoughts I needed to be thinking of to grow. Second, when I started to be around more people, I began to compare myself more than usual because I had gotten so used to it from being on social media so often these past months. And lastly, I felt the need to be someone I was not to fit in, to be someone fake. That only got me so far, but it let me realize that being fake is more of an effort than being yourself, and when many people already surround us, we are already passing around a lot of energy. Nevertheless, forcing things to happen is like having a restriction and not allowing things to flow towards us, but instead away from us.

So, as I have said before, and I will say again, the most important thing to learn is to be authentic to ourselves. The moment we catch ourselves being someone we are not is when we start to restrict the thing we want and attract the opposite. Let things flow.
