Obstacles and doubt.

As I enter this new stage in my life, where I’m in university and classes are online, and a pandemic is still present, I have encountered an obstacle: doubt. But, for a second, let’s talk about obstacles. Obstacles are these unexpected situations that appear suddenly, and we don’t always know how to react. For instance, I am now attending a good university, but it’s online, yet, people still ask me how I expect to make friends or how hard it’s going to be for me to focus during class. Nevertheless, I have realized that it is coming to terms with these obstacles and accepting and working with them or around them to find the best solution possible. These unexpected scenarios are what make us who we are today. I’ll tell you why. Some obstacles are more challenging than others. However, we must find a way to overcome them. By doing so, we inhabit new skills and abilities, or even the simplicity of learning a lesson that may help us in similar situations in the future.

Now, this in fact, has to do with doubt. The basis of an obstacle is the questioning behind it. This obstacle is also something that we may have never encountered before. So, as this questioning begins, we sometimes start to doubt our abilities or even the situation itself and how we will overcome it. Nonetheless, as doubt arises, it is troublesome to stop the never-ending loop of questioning that comes after that first question when faced with a situation. Yet, there are ways to adapt to those obstacles and the doubt that arises from them. How? From my experience, it is to think of the different scenarios and the outcome of each one of them. Then, I write down what exactly in that scenario or obstacle makes me doubt myself or the situation. Finally, I figure out how I can make the best out of whatever is happening and what I can learn from it. So, as I have learned, you have to embrace these obstacles, even if you fail to overcome them and find the lesson you have yet to learn. I invite you to do the same and know that all is going to be okay. Because as I mentioned in a previous article, our life is like a roller-coaster, and the best we can do, is let go and let things flow. And as one of my mentors has told me several times, don’t be so hard on yourself.
