Individual discovery

Being with yourself is one of the most important things one must do. We must find a way to prioritize ourselves regardless of the situation. Unfortunately, we sometimes are in a situation where we are forced to care for ourselves. Nevertheless, those moments are also times when we realize that we have not been there for ourselves in the way we would have wanted to. We put so much pressure on ourselves to be okay, so we can seem strong to other people so we are not selfish (or not seem selfish). We then feel as though we have not given ourselves enough time to deal with our things. This is where we have this duality and conflict within us to try and understand where our priorities are. When we are alone, we try to be with ourselves but find a distraction (like watching TV or scrolling through social media) to not have to be with ourselves. But what is so bad about talking with ourselves? Why are we so conflicted with having a conversation alone? I know it may sound crazy. but we have to find a way to try and understand ourselves better. If we get to a point where we know who we are, we are also in a position to connect with others at a different level. Yet, this comes with time, patience, and the willingness to understand who we are and where we come from. I don’t mean where we come from genealogically, but more in an individual sense. Trying to comprehend why we think the way we do, or why we connect with people in a certain way. Each of these things that characterize and separate us from others, makes us who we are. So how is it that we have to start talking or expressing our thoughts? Why do we become so judgemental of who we are?

It is like we find pleasure in bringing ourselves down. We should have fun getting to know ourselves; not an excuse to find different ways of hurting ourselves more. So, just like I am suggesting right now for myself, I invite you to give me some time to unwind and be with you. To find a space and time to just be with your thoughts and nothing else.
