Expiration Date

We tend to expect things to end before they even start. As if there is an expiration date already written down somewhere. Why do we do this? Do we want to prevent the feelings we may get? Do we want to stop ourselves from doing something we regret? There can be many reasons. Yet, we still expect things that have not happened yet.

As I have been updating you in these past months, you may know by now that I have moved several times, and I am in the midst of changing career paths. However, as all of these changes are happening, and more is to come, the only thing I can do is recognize how strong and resilient I have become by finding ways to adapt and adjust to different sceneries and find a sort of balance within chaos. I am expected to move again within the next months and have a few more adaptations, but the only thing I can do is go with the flow and embrace change as it comes and stop resisting it as I used to. I would tend to ask what if? Making myself worry about the future, and even about the nonexistent past.

Regardless, I have come to conclude that an expiration date is only a due date of when we are expected to do things or end them; and if we use the term metaphorically, we can relate it to food going bad and moments flying by - two very different ideas. Picture yourself buying something at the grocery store; there is an expiration date noted on that product whether we want to see it or not. However, we know that we must consume it before that time comes. But we can decide if we’re going to keep on consuming the product even if it is no good, throw it out and never repurchase it, or buy a new one and keep on consuming it.

It is all about perspective, and right now, as many things are unknown (even the expiration date at times), we must enjoy it while it lasts until we decide to keep on doing things that are not good for us, remove it and have a change, or stay longer if it benefits our well-being. It is up to you, and I invite you to enjoy life as is because before we know it, the time has flown.
