Destroy your ego

If there is one thing that I have come to realize is how we are so driven by our ego instead of our intuition.

A quick pause, can we consider our intuition to be anything other than what is rational or irrational? Can our intuition be considered what we feel to be right or wrong? If we are driven by what we feel (right or wrong, good or bad), is it possible that our intuition is our moral? And if our morality is based on how we feel, can our morals also be based on values and the fundamentals of our being? Well, that was an interesting pause, but back to the article…

Now, our ego and intuition can be seen as the same, yet they are so different. Our ego is what we show off to the world, or how we fear to be seen. However, our intuition is how we feel, regardless of any external factors. I think the way we separate ourselves from our ego, is by learning how to accept that the world does not revolve around us; regardless of the contradictory comment about us being able to create our reality. I think that is where we get confused, and it is understandable. We are the creators of our reality if we decide to focus on ourselves without having the external world influence who we are at the core. Nevertheless, we are still usually driven by how other people tend to see us, or how we assume they see us. The moment we begin to show importance to how other people see us, we also start to create an invisible or indirect expectation of how we assume we should be seen. And if this is the case, we start to create a codependence of what we assume the other person wants us to be, which constantly leaves us with the thought or fear that we will not be at the level of the expectation the other person has of us. But the moment we come to terms that what someone else expects of us may not always be what is best for us. The moment we can see this, it is also the moment we can see that we are not our thoughts. Our thoughts are merely a reflection of how we expect things to be and the things we assume we should be thinking about or what others may be thinking. However, we must understand that our intuition is instinct, it is the first thought that comes to mind, and the unquestionable truth that is right for us. The moment things in our surroundings or personal conflicts arise, that is when the intuition is doubted and questioned and we decide to step back and follow a more rational decision instead of impulse or instinct.

I realized that the moment I surrendered who I was to who I truly am, my ego decided to also be questioned. I questioned who I was at the core, who I was with others and how I am with myself. Asking myself if I am being true to my word, or maybe if I am being the type of person I want to be surrounded by. Don’t get me wrong, it is not easy. We come to question if who we have been is real, and that is frightening because it is accepting that we have lied to ourselves. But the first step to all of this is to be completely okay with being blunt and truly honest with yourself, regardless of your reaction.
