The Layers of The Onion

I'm reading this book called The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck written by Mark Manson. Last night I reached a part of the book talking about the Self-Awareness Onion, which describes how an onion can relate to your self-awareness level. I was going on, reading about it, realizing that I just had an "aha" moment. In other words, this part of the chapter said that the deeper you go into yourself, questioning your actions and thoughts, the more likely you are to cry. But why is that? Well, in simpler terms, we do not want to face the f*ked up reality, who we have become, or how we are becoming. To add, it also says, which I completely agree with, the more of an uncomfortable answer you will get, the more real it will be.

Unfortunately, not many people can reach the deepest and most genuine part of themselves because they remain in the superficial spectrum of their reality. You do not need a therapist or a psychologist to do this; it is as simple as writing it on a piece of paper, meditating, re-reading it and questioning yourself. I'll help you out. Start by asking yourself what it is that you like and what you don't? What makes you mad, and what makes you enjoy life? These questions can be considered the first layer of the onion; then, you can ask yourself the majestic question of Why? After you do so, you go on, and on, and on. The redundancy is infinite.

And about this whole shenanigan, I talked about it with my mom, who helped me realize that there is no right or wrong answer, but you will know if you are or are not true to yourself. And yes, it's scary, it really is. Facing all the things in our surroundings, listening on repeat, "Be honest and don't lie, but tell the truth," and yet you are still blamed. How do you know what is true and what isn't? Well, that is a whole other topic, believe me, and trust yourself by following your instinct!

Now, I will put you to the test and ask you, what layer of the onion are you on?
