Are we born to follow?

Some people may say that we are born to follow, and others may say we are born to lead. However, is there anything wrong in being either? In my opinion, a leader leads people, but that leader must follow something or somebody to keep on going and to be motivated. A follower follows the lead of the leader who follows that belief that keeps them motivated. So is it a never-ending cycle? Why have we become so driven to becoming leaders when in reality, we may be followers? Personally, I do not think that there is anything wrong with following others, but there is one thing that must be clear: to have your dogmas and not be based entirely on the beliefs of others.

After doing a meditation, I started to question if the moment we start to be considered leaders amongst the eyes of others is the moment we start to question if what we believe in is truly our own or it belongs to others. The beliefs that we have grown into have somehow become part of us, so we don’t realize if they belong to others. We normalize them, we don’t doubt nor question if they are ours, and we get accustomed to them, and we adapt to that belief system making ourselves believe that it is our own. But is it our own? In previous articles, I’ve mentioned that we have to become our most authentic selves, and I think our core belief system can make us who we are.

Now, don’t get me wrong, if you believe that what you believe in is yours, by all means, keep on believing in those beliefs. However, as we might have been born into a society with pre-established beliefs, maybe the only way we can become who we truly are is by starting to create, question, or find what beliefs help us become our most authentic selves.

So instead of becoming followers of others, we can become the followers of our beliefs.

If you want to learn more about beliefs, I suggest you look more in-depth and understand the core belief system, whether by reading articles or books or watching videos on YouTube.
