Acceptance

As you may know by now, I have been on this journey of growth and getting to know myself for the past two years or so. A few months ago, however, I realized that I had lost focus on what my goal was when I had started this journey of growth, and instead did it to show people that I was growing and was flaunting in a way, which made me do it for others instead of myself.

When new years came around, I decided it was time for a fresh start, and yes, I did do that new year, new start bs; I thought it would push me and motivate me to regain my focus. Little did I know that it would take more than a celebration of a year ending and a new one beginning and waking up to another day of the same old routine. The weeks that had followed, I had moved yet again and found myself lost in my thoughts and didn’t seem to know what to do with the isolation I was in (maybe I put myself in that position on purpose as to face a challenge and grow, who knows?).

I decided it was time to cut the bs, face my reality, and take action. It took me a bit to find what could have been my motivation, which was the most challenging part—finding a reason to keep on going, to want to be in this world and learn more, which was more important than I would have thought. But I did; I found my reason, at least a few reasons that added up and made it evident for me to get back on my feet and move forward.

However, it wasn’t until last week that I decided I wanted to start this new journey or challenge, whatever you want to call it. I called it: The Acceptance Challenge. It consists of truly being in tune with your reality by being conscious of your thoughts and accepting your reality. Whenever you catch yourself judging, comparing, or any other disturbing thought, say it aloud and point it out. That way, you become aware of it and can let that thought get out of the way and get back to whatever you were doing before. It sounds simple, and at first, you may find it difficult, but you get the hang of it, and before you know it, you want to catch yourself thinking of more positive thoughts instead of negative ones. By being in tune and accepting your present and reality, you could shift and change it into whatever it is that you truly desire your reality to be. I invite you to take part in it and adjust it as you wish. If you don’t want to consider it a challenge, make it into a game, and have some fun with it. Allow yourself to find playfulness in challenges, and your journey of growth will become youthful and more enjoyable.
